Oscar Munar

International photographer and art visionary Oscar Munar is inspired by the ever-changing silhouettes that cross in front, behind and all around him.

He takes an unconventional and intense perspective of lights and shadows and the crosswinds of fashion and nature, coupled with an uncompromising eye towards the female body and the sense of the immediate, real and often raw.

Always trying to capture the moment, look and strength that each image transmits, either by explosion of colours or by composition, his photographs resonate with finding the inner soul of each subject and capturing said vision.

Issues of gender, youth and freedom are also framed within confined viewpoints, creating an immediacy that is characteristic of his work but can be explored further when moving out of reality and infiltrating fiction – something which is apparent in many of his most adventurous pictures.

Based in Bali and currently working with high profile clients in Japan, USA, Paris, Hong Kong and Vietnam, Oscar’s also shot an impressive repertoire of A list names including Roberto Cavalli, Antonio Banderas, Moby, Nile Rodgers and Idris Elba as well as many football players and international Dj s.

Demand for his art has led to commissions of his portraits by clients all over the globe. His work can be found in the most prestigious villas and in 5 star hotels in many parts of the world and he features in MAISON&OBJET, Paris. for the pass 5 years.

Born in Igualada, Barcelona, Oscar’s love of photography has taken him all around the world. His travels led him to Scotland where he studied photography at Napier University and it was here he began working with various model agencies before progressing to The Scotsman newspaper to write the social column and fashion section.

Since then he has worked with an impressive repertoire of publications – just some of which include Elle UK, Vogue USA,Vogue Korea, Pacha Magazine,GQmagazine , Spain.

His latest studio shots reflect beautifully a predisposition towards the natural which is combined with a dissonant note that surprises the viewer.

Always enrapturing. Always mesmerising.
